Jan 8-11, 2020 Parana on the Fly - Northern Argentina (3 nights/3days) 3 Rods available $2600/person
Please note: This trip can be coupled with dove shooting, a trip up to Iguazu falls, or a few more days dorado fishing on the Parana.
The fishing takes place in the Ibera Marshland (the second largest wetland in the world) for hard fighting, leaping golden dorado. You won't catch a more athletic predator in fresh water! The lodging is comfortable and the service outstanding. Recently opened in Nov of 2019 to fishing, this pristine national park is exclusive to Parana on the Fly and new areas being discovered daily. We will be staying in an outpost camp for one evening so that we can fish into darkness on arrival day and at first light the next day. If you have not fished for dorado it is about time. I waited way too long! This trip dovetails perfectly with the next week with Esquel Outfitters from Jan 11-18. www.laalondra.com & www.paranaonthefly.com
Jan 11-18, 2020 Esquel Outfitters - Esquel, Argentina Fully booked $4500 / person.
This is one of the top outfitters in Patagonia. I first fished with them in 1998 and they continue to exceed all expectations. The great fishing will begin in Los Alerces National Park where we will float one of 3 great rivers. After a great meal and comfortable night's sleep at El Trebol Lodge we will float the productive and remote Chubut for 3 days fishing and 2 nights of comfortable camping. The dry fly action to browns and rainbows from 12-19 inches is non-stop and the food prepared by the camp staff amazing. After our expedition we go to a 30,000 acre private estancia that gives us over 20 miles of exclusive access to the Rio Guiljaina where again browns and rainbows in the 16-22 inch class love to explode on dry flies. On the last day we may repeat the Gualjaina, float the Rio Grande, or head to a private lagoon. www.esqueloutfitters.com
Jan 18- 25, 2020 Estancia Tecka - Tecka Argentina Fully booked $5600 per person/double accupancy
This operation has been on my list for years and I am happy to be fishing there at last. With close to 100 miles of private/exclusive access to the Rio Corcovado, Rio Tecka, smaller spring creeks and numerous lagoons that hold trophy trout, this massive ranch (400,000 acres) will provide us with countless fishing opportunities via drift boat or walk/wade. Hopper fishing, streamer fishing, and with any luck some match the hatch dry fly fishing, this trip will be memorable. The Corcovado is one of few streams in Patagonia with large brook trout. The service, lodging, cuisine, and wines are all top shelf. www.estanciateckalodge.com
Jan 25-Feb 1, 2020 Chucao Lodges - Lago Yelcho & Lago Rosselot, Chile
$5200 / Person (Includes Charter flight from Puerto Mont) Fully Booked
Gonzalo Cortes is the author of "Fly Fishing in Chilean Patagonia," and he knows more than most when it comes to fishing in Chile. He has built two strategically located, first class lodges: one at the mouth of the Rio Yelcho and the other on Lago Rosselot with quick access to several excellent rivers, such as the Yelcho, Futalafu, Palena, Rosselot, and Figueroa. Sight fishing to large rainbows and streamer fishing to trophy browns makes this area special. Fishing the lakes can produce amazing strikes from large trout that take dragonfly patterns and huge beetles. Because we have access to two lodges, the fishing diversity is excellent, your fishing days longer, and time in the car minimal. www.chucaolodge.com
